Over 250 Flower Class Corvettes were built during World War 2,most operating with the Royal Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy.
They were the indespensible foot soldiers of the Battle of the Atlantic, half of all convoy escorts were Flower Class ships.
HMSC Sackville was not commissioned until 1942 many of her sister ships were ready within a few months of the start of the war.
The Sackville is preserved as a Museum ship in Halifax Nova Scotia.
